My husband and I did this before our wedding, and not only did it dispel pre-wedding anxieties for a long weekend, it also ended up saving us a lot of money. The wine we purchased in Eastern WA was shipped, free of charge, to Chateau St. Michele and we picked it up a week before our wedding (they were happy to stow it in their storage so it was out of my way - as a serious klutz, that was a huge boon). The wine we purchased was half the price we would have paid, per bottle, at the local liquor store, and because we planned our trip during one of the seasonal wine party weekends, we had an additional 10 percent taken off of our order by visiting the vineyard in person. The wine was tasty and a perfect fit for our perfect day. I love this idea!
